Benesse Report 2008 is issued by Benesse Corporation (“Benesse”) and is based on the Benesse Group Code of Conduct.
The preamble to that code begins by stating that “As members of the Benesse Group, we will always act in a way that provides sustained support for the Company to make Benesse synonymous with well-being for all stakeholders including customers. We engage in business activities to provide value unique to Benesse.”
This publication reports on Benesse's social responsibility as a corporation and initiatives taken in fiscal 2007 to fulfill that responsibility. In designing this report, we set out in particular to incorporate the views and opinions of our employees, Benesse's greatest asset, and to communicate the frontline approach and human touch that define Benesse. The report also includes a feature section near the front that looks at Benesse's initiatives to address important social issues such as Japan's graying population and declining birth rate, polarization in academic ability, a decline in motivation to learn and labor problems in the nursing care industry. Our thinking and initiatives are explained in simple terms by employees.
