Three Think Tanks That Help People to “Live Well”
Benesse has established three main think tanks: the Benesse Educational Research and Development Center (BERD); Benesse Institute for the Child Sciences, Parenting, and Aging; and Benesse Shokuiku Institute. Through these think tanks, Benesse has been conducting research and survey activities for more than 20 years that will benefit not only Benesse's businesses but also society as a whole.
Details of research and survey activities conducted in fiscal 2007 can be found on each think tank's website.
Benesse Educational Research and Development Center (BERD)
Responding to a changing educational environment, BERD's research activities are focused on three key themes: basic research related to children and learning; the development of educational content, methods, evaluation and formats; and the provision of information to help resolve educational issues. Through lecture activities, information magazines such as BERD and VIEW21, survey data reports and its website, BERD releases data based on its proprietary research activities, communicating vital information about the education landscape.

The institute provides advice and information on problems in various fields based on the findings of its research and surveys. As the social environment changes rapidly and individual values and needs diversify, the Benesse Institute for the Child Sciences, Parenting, and Aging will help support the healthy growth and development of future generations of children.
